Yes, you can use ASP.Net 1.1, ASP.Net 2, PHP 4 & PHP 5 simultaneously. They are installed on all Windows servers. So if you have windows hosting account with us, you can now experiment with those 4 versions at the same time

Why? Because mail() function will use the webserver to send email instead of a real mail server. However, we recently found out that the recipient mail server will check the sender IP and when it notices that the sender IP is not an email server, then it will block the message and the messages will never get through to recipient mailbox. This problem seems to be applicable to some email server (recipients’) such as Yahoo, AOL and other companies.

How to solve this problem? Easy, don’t use webserver to send email, but use a real email server with SMTP. If you’re using PHP, simply download phpmailer class and send email using SMTP.

Below is the code sample that you need to write on your webpage:

“Klien ada dari Batam, Jakarta, Semarang, Malaysia bahkan Republik Ceko. Target pasar kita nggak cuman Indonesia, alhamdulillah bisa tembus juga pasar luar. Makanya isi website pakai Bahasa Inggris,” katanya.

Bisa membidik pasar luar negeri, merupakan sesuatu yang luar biasa karena pengelola hosting tanah air, biasanya hanya membidik klien dalam negeri. Alasannya, harga sewa server (hosting) di luar negeri lebih murah daripada hosting Indonesia.

Tetapi menurut Ismu, menjual produk hosting tidak hanya terkait pada server melulu, tetapi juga pelayanan kepada klien. Di samping juga harga sewa yang terjangkau.

“Customer servis diutamakan, yang penting klien puas. Kalau masalah harga sebenarnya relatif, tergantung siapa yang melihat, apakah pribadi atau korporat,” komentarnya.

Dia mengatakan, tarif hosting di Cyber Coral termasuk kategori murah, walaupun secara bisnis, Cyber Coral sebenarnya sudah masuk dalam kategori hosting mapan. Disebut mapan karena sekarang ini Cyber Coral tinggal mendulang laba dari bisnisnya itu.

Ini berbeda dengan prinsip perusahaan hosting di kota lain yang biasanya langsung menaikkan tarif hosting setinggi langit, begitu nama perusahaannya melambung tinggi. How do we prove it?
Simple, have you ever heard about harddisk with unlimited capacity?

No such thing ever existed. Never! So how can the hosting providers claim that they can host your website with unlimited disk space quota?

So how about unlimited bandwidth?
Every hosting providers have their own contract with ISP that provide their internet connections. ISPs have the price for internet connections based on bandwidth. The higher the bandwidth, the higher the price would be. However, no ISP has ever offered a package for unlimited bandwidth.

ISPs offer only unlimited access with limited bandwidth, not unlimited bandwidth. So, how can hosting providers can have hosting packages with unlimited bandwidth while they have limited bandwidth from their ISP?

What if there is really a hosting provider that can provide hosting package with unlimited space or unlimited bandwidth?

If you really insist trying their service then go ahead. To prove their claim of unlimited space, you can simply upload a lot of big files such as linux iso files or even your personal dvd movies. Make sure all those files are legal so you will not break their TOS.

To prove the unlimited bandwidth thing, simply ask your friends to download those files. That, will definitely consume a lot of bandwidth

Soon enough, the hosting provider will suspend your hosting account or ask you to get your own dedicated server as your website has taken too much resources from their server.

Now what? What would you do?
You did not break their TOS. You just wanted to use the unlimited space & bandwidth as what they offer in their hosting package but you could not.

What does it for having unlimited space and unlimited bandwidth but in fact it has limit?

After reading this, we hope that customers / webmasters will be able to choose their hosting providers wisely based on their own requirements of disk space and bandwidth and not because fallen in such unlimited space & bandwidth traps.

1. SSL (Secure Socket Layer)

Websites that use SSL are those that need secure / encrypted data transfer between web server and visitor’s browser, such as e-commerce websites, corporate portals that contain confidential information, corporate webmail, etc.

With SSL, information transferred from web server to visitor’s browser will always be encrypted. Data encryptions are used to scramble the information that is being transferred so that any attempt to steal the information, while it’s still on its way, will be useless as the data they captured have been encrypted and can only be decrypted by the legitimate visitor’s browser.

However, in order to install a SSL certificate onto a website or domain, the domain must be configured with a dedicated IP.

2. Anonymous FTP

Websites that offer file download sometimes want to have anonymous FTP enabled. Anonymous FTP is used to let visitors download files from web server through FTP without having to provide user name & password. In order to enable the anonymous FTP, the domain must be configured with a dedicated IP.

So, based on the two requirements explained above, you can now easily decide whether using dedicated IP or shared IP.

It’s better to take the decision since the very first time, as changing from shared IP to dedicated IP or vice versa will cause the website to be inaccessible during DNS propagation which can take from 24 hours up to 72 hours.

By default, HSphere does not include index.php as directory index or main file on Windows Hosting. That means, if you want to use index.php as your main file, you will need to modify your directory index setting in you hosting control panel and put index.php as your directory index.

Directory Indexes

This tool allows you to set your own index pages instead of those specified in the default settings. In other words, you can tell your visitors’ browsers which page to load as they hit your domain. Usually, it’s /index.html by default, but you can set any other custom welcome page.

Example: If a visitor goes to your site http://www.example.com, the first page to open will be http://www.example.com/index.html. However, if you set /welcome.html as the directory index, the page to open will be http://www.example.com/welcome.html.

Warning: your custom index pages won’t add to the defaults; they will replace them. Therefore, make sure to enter the full list of indexes you would like to have in your configuration.

To set your custom directory indexes, do the following:

1. Select Quick Access in the Account menu.
2. Click the Web Options icon on the page that shows.
3. Click the Edit icon next to the domain you need.
4. On the Web Service page, scroll down to find the Directory Indexes option and turn it on.
5. Agree with the charges.
6. In the box that appears, enter the names for files that will be treated as indexes. Put file names in the descending order of priority and separate them with spaces (e.g. index.html cgi.bin about.html).
   
7. Skip this step if you are using a Windows-based plan. At the top of the Web Service page, click the Apply link for the Server configuration to change. The changes will take effect within 15 minutes.
8. To edit the list you have made, click the Edit icon next to the Directory Indexes option: with spaces (e.g. index.html cgi.bin about.html).
   
   If you are using a Unix-based plan, click the Apply link at the top of the Web Service page.
